The Industrial Cobras remain ranked in two of the three Texas high school volleyball polls.
The Texas Volleyball Insiders poll has the Cobras (23-14, 3-1) at No. 16 in Class 3A, while MaxPreps ranks the Cobras No. 18 in its Class 3A list.
District 25-3A foe Columbus (24-8), the other state-ranked district team, is No. 9 in the Texas Girls Coaching Association poll, No. 12 in MaxPreps and No. 13 in TVI.
As District 29-2A began play this week, Schulenburg (21-9) is ranked No. 4 in MaxPreps, No. 8 in TVI, and No. 11 in TGCA, and Flatonia (18-10) is No. 16 in MaxPreps
and No. 17 in TGCA.
Industrial Cobras
The Cobras picked up a district road win, defeating Rice Consolidated on Tues., Sept. 24, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.
Statistical leaders included Karli Stanush with 14 kills; Deziree Evans with seven kills; Kate Simons with 18 assists; Pacie Roe with 14 assists and two aces; Kaylee Honc with two blocks; Madi Kubecka with one block; Autumn Kallus with 13 digs; and Desiree Alaniz with 13 digs and one ace.
Industrial travels to Yoakum on Friday, with varsity beginning at 5 p.m. and the JV teams at 6:30 p.m. Industrial and Edna are tied for second place behind Columbus in District 25-3A, heading into Friday's games.
Edna Cowgirls
The Cowgirls (18-16, 3-1) gained some separation in the district standings by defeating visiting Tidehaven, 25-12, 25-20, 25-17 on Tues., Sept. 24.
Tuesday’s win left Edna tied for second place with Industrial at 3-1 in 25-3A play.
The Cowgirls host Palacios on Friday, with varsity beginning at 4:30 p.m. and JV and freshman teams at 6 p.m.
Ganado Maidens
The Maidens (4-23, 0-1) hosted Flatonia Tues., Sept. 24, and fell in three games, 6-25, 11-25, 15-25, in their only game of the week.
Ganado returns to action on Tues., Oct. 1 when it hosts Schulenburg at 5 p.m.
