A single vehicle crash on Wednesday, December 11 claimed the life of one woman and injured two other people. The crash happened in the past early evening just south of Ganado, on the overpass near TA Truck Stop.
Driver Brian Keith Sparks, 58, and front passenger Thereca Clay, 37, we’re both unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. They were taken to Citizens Medical Center by ambulance for inquiries that were not life threatening.
Daresha Rucker, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, also unrestrained, was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was declared deceased on the scene.
According to Sergeant Ruben San Miguel of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the red 2004 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling southbound on US Highway 59 when, for reasons still under investigation, it drifted to the right, then overcorrected to the left, sending it into a skid. It then overturned multiple times and came to rest on its top in the northbound outside lane.
The crash backed up traffic in the northbound lane for hours while the scene was cleaned up.
