Monthly sales tax receipts grew in Edna and La Ward during October, according to information released by the State Comptroller’s Office on Dec. 13.
The City of Edna received $121,043.75 net payment from the state for sales in October, representing a 1.93 percent increase over October 2023, when the city received $118,747.48.
Likewise, the City of La Ward also rose, receiving $945.30 in October 2024, a 33.58 percent increase over the $707.62 received in October 2023.
The City of Ganado, though, off by 21.22 percent from its October 2023 sales tax receipts. Ganado received $31,309.08 for October 2024, down from the $39,744.23 received in October 2023.
For the year-to-date, only the City of Edna continues to show gains over last year.
Through the end of October, Edna has received $1,477,305.04 in sales tax allocations, a 3.76 percent increase over the same point in 2023, when the city had brought in $1,423,769.95.
The City of La Ward has received $10,787.80 thus far in 2024, down 5.23 percent from the $11,384.27 it received year-to-date in 2023.
The City of Ganado has weathered the biggest drop off. Ganado has received $473,868.46 in sales tax allocations year-to-date in 2024, which represents a drop of 32 percent from the same point last year, when it had received $696,914.28.
Looking at the county level, Jackson County inched up 0.27 percent over last October, receiving $122,494.72 in October 2024 as opposed to $122,155.63 in 2023. For the year, though, the county is up 17.35 percent with $1,747,574.47 brought in so far in 2024 as opposed to $1,489,077.47 year-todate in 2023.
November sales tax numbers are due to be released on January 10.
