Mid-Coast Family Services will provide advocacy services for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors locally in Edna beginning in January of 2025.
Through a partnership with Jackson County Hospital, face-to-face services are available to Edna residents on the first and third Thursdays of every month. The Edna office is located inside the hospital in the Specialty Clinic.
Office hours are 9am to 12pm. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. People seeking services can call 361-5734357 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
Advocacy services include peer counseling, connection to community resources, accompaniments to forensic exams and court dates, and other support.
“Over our years of service, we have come to recognize that things such as transportation, lack of childcare, and misunderstanding of resources pose as barriers to victims, and especially those in rural counties and small communities. It is our goal to be present in surrounding towns and eliminate barriers to help victims reach out for help within their own hometown,” Ginny Stafford said, Mid-Coast Family Services CEO.
Mid-Coast Family Services Family Violence Prevention department provides a 24-hour crisis hotline for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Callers are connected with resources including the Women’s Crisis Center – an emergency shelter providing supportive services for victims in danger – counseling services, and more.
For more information, community members are encouraged to contact Jill Blucher at jblucher@midcoastfamily. org or 361-220-8982. Survivors can call the 24-hour crisis hotline at 361-573-HELP (4357) or 800-870-0368 or can chat securely and anonymously at resourceconnect.com/ mcfs/chat for help and resources.
