Ganado Feed & More has served Ganado for over 70 years
Ganado Feed & More is known as a ‘One Stop Shop,’ not only to owners Wade and Amber Watkins, but to the county citizens as well.
Located at 102 W Rogers, the current spot was built in 2006, but the Watkins’ bought the store in October 2001.
“We purchased the store from Raymond and Beverly Zajicek,” Amber said. “Their family owned the store since the 1950s when it originally opened. In 2006 we added new lines of products and services with the added space.”
Ganado Feed & More, in addition to being the county’s oldest Purina Dealer, can help with a variety of cattle feeding programs, offers equine feed and supplies, anything involving deer and wildlife, even purchasing one’s hunting license. They offer mulches, soils and plants for one’s home and garden, sell pet supplies, fencing and hardware, and now sell their own Watkins-raised Brahman beef, from their ranch straight to table.
The store sells men and women’s apparel, children’s toys, plus home decor and gifts for your loved ones. The diversity of their products pushes their motto further of being a ‘One Stop Shop.’
“Not only do we sell feed, ranch and home supplies, we are in the ranching business,” Amber added. “Wade has a bachelor’s in Production Agriculture, and together we have over 50 years of experience. We all work hard together to get the job done.”
Ganado Feed & More only has four employees, including Wade and Amber, so they all work daily in the store, and their advice can be trusted due to their extensive experiences in the industry.
The Watkins chose to open a feed and more store because they take pride in being able to help someone with their ranching operation, or simply helping a sick animal.
“We love our community and people,” Amber said. “Agriculture has been an important part of our families, so it was a natural fit.”
The store has made sure to be a part of the county by supporting various local nonprofits, especially Jackson County 4-H and the JC Youth Fair for 25 years. Wade served on the
Ganado Feed & More Chamber of Commerce Board for 15 years while Amber served the Ganado Rotary Club as an officer for the same amount of time. Wade is also currently the JC Wildlife Association president since 1999, and they’re both members of the JC Cattle Raisers Association.
