The Edna ISD Board of Trustees voted to extend Superintendent Robert O’Connor’s contract by a year during the January board meeting on Jan. 20.
O’Connor’s contract now will run through 2026. Typically, January is when most districts evaluate superintendents and make contract decisions, with campus administrators in February and faculty in March.
In other business, trustees: Heard reports over Lone Star Governance, the business office, the 2023-24 Texas Academic Performance Report, employee recognition, and Cowboy Card drawing; Heard academic reports from the various campuses; Approved the Consent Agenda items, including minutes from the Dec. 16 meeting; payments for current bills; a budget amendment; any donations; and granting hiring authority to O’Connor for the period from Jan. 21 through Aug.
15, 2025; Held a public hearing to discuss the data from the TAPR report; Approved the 2023-2024 annual financial report; Approved the review of last month’s meeting work, including time spent in the meeting on student outcomes; Approved Lone Star Governance Superintendent constraint 1.1 and 3.1; Approved Lone Star Governance Board Self-Evaluation; Met in executive session to discuss O’Connor’s evaluation and contract, and to review personnel recommendations; Returned to open session to vote to extend O’Connor’s contract.
