Restaurant Inspections

The Victoria County Public Health Department Environmental Health Division inspects places where food is served in Jackson County.

In the inspection reports, each violation in the Priority items 1-20 is 3 demerits; Priority Foundation items 21-33 are 2 demerits; and Core items are 1 demerit.

Zero is a perfect score, while 100 demerits is the worst possible score.

Food service inspections for the week ending February 14: • Conner’s Corner Grocery, 102 E. Houston Hwy 77957, Edna.

Demerits: 12. Cold holding needs to be 41° or below, hot hold needs to be 135° or above, need Employee Health and Hygiene Handbook, food items need to be date labeled, wiping cloth must be stored in sanitizer bucket.

• Edna Seafood & Grill, 1022 S. Wells 77957, Edna. Demerits: 7. Cover foods in freezer, wash hands in hand wash sink, need scoop with handles, post last inspection.

• Circle R Drive-In, 8945 FM 1593, Lolita. Demerits: 6. No CFM on duty, date label, do not store knives between counters, store pickle tongs in a sanitized container.

• James Food Mart,

11943 FM, Lolita.

Demerits: 6. Three step dishwashing process not followed, do not use cardboard, repair ice machine door.

• Mc Donald’s, 817 N. Wells 77957, Edna.

Demerits: 4. Need Bodily Fluid Kit, need current permit.

Establishments with 0 Demerits:

• Donut Palace, 707 N. Wells 77957, Edna; Church’s Fried Chicken, 110 E. Houston Hwy 77957, Edna. Demerits, 0.

Violation Follow up: • Reinspection- Pinto Bean Restaurant, 700 W. Main Street 77957, Edna.

Demerits: 0.
