Five Maidens earn spots on 28-2A All-District hoops teams

Ganado senior guard Zoey Ybarra led a group of five Maidens named to the District 28-2A All-District girls basketball teams.

Ybarra was named to the 28-2A First Team, senior forward Isabel Tristan made the Second Team, and senior guard Annalyse Thedford, sophomore post Michaela Estrada, and sophomore Paisley Hajovsky earned Honorable Mention.

In addition, a dozen Ganado basketball players and managers made the Academic All-District team. Those were Rhylee Green, Raelynn Pena, Lindsey Rodriguez, Emily Thedford, Avery Torres, Juana Zamudi, and Aileen Zavala, along with Estrada, Hajovsky, Thedford, Tristan, and Ybarra.

Maidens Head Coach Kathy Meng said she was very proud of her team.

“We have a very talented district, but my girls stayed focused and finished the season strong,” Meng said Wednesday.

“Everyone worked hard and improved during the season.”
