County receives large bump in sales, use tax March payment

Jackson County sales and use tax revenue received from the Texas State Comptroller’s Office more than doubled in March, according to figures released recently.

Jackson County received a net payment of $275,677.45 on March 14, which represented a 127.71 percent increase over the March 2024 monthly payment of $121,064.99.

For the year to date, the county has received $535,733.01 in net tax revenue from the state, which represents an 8.53 percent increase over the same period in 2024 when Jackson County received $493,606.06.

On the city level, the City of Edna and the City of La Ward both saw increases in the amount of sales and use tax revenue received for the March 2025 distribution.

Edna received $107,733.41 net payment for March 2025, an increase of 4.37 percent over the $103,219.46 received last March. For the year to date, the City of Edna remains 15.19 percent ahead of 2024, having received $401,909.30 so far in 2025 as compared to the $348,896.42 received at the same point in 2024.

The City of La Ward received $812.62 in net sales tax revenue for the March distribution, representing a 63.31 percent increase over the $497.57 received in March 2024. For the year to date, La Ward is up 48.25 percent over the same period in 2024, having received $3,245.66 so far in 2025 as opposed to $2,189.31 by the same point in 2024.

The City of Ganado saw a small dip when comparing March 2025 to March 2024, but remained ahead for the year to date.

Ganado received $34,082.87 for the March 2025 distribution, which was 8.44 percent lower than the $37,226.57 received in March 2024.

However, Ganado is up 15.83 percent for the year, receiving $127,552.14 for the year to date in 2025 as compared to $110,114.46 received by the same point in 2024.
