On February 5 a male subject contacted the police department claiming to be a victim of fraud. It was discovered that someone had accessed his bank account and made several fraudulent withdrawals, totaling approximately $2,700. Police were able to track the withdrawals to an elderly person in Arkansas. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown person(s) had stolen the elderly person’s identity to make the withdrawals.
On February 27, Matagorda Sheriff’s Office contacted Ganado police asking for assistance in locating three paintings that had been stolen during a residential burglary. Matagorda Sheriff’s Office advised they believed the paintings were at a residence in Ganado. Police went by the residence and made contact with the owner. The owner advised they were in possession of the paintings. The owner turned over the paintings without incident. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the Ganado resident had not been involved in the burglary.
On March 1, Ganado police responded to an address in the 100 block of Brown St., in reference to a shooting. It was discovered two male subjects got into a physical altercation when one pulled a firearm. Multiple shots were fired, but no one was hit. The victim sustained minor injuries from the physical altercation. The suspect left the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect has been positively identified and charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon are pending.
On March 4, Ganado police responded to an address in the 300 block of E. Putnam St., in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, police identified the involved parties. One of the involved parties was found to be an undocumented immigrant. He was taken into custody and detained for Border Patrol.
On March 4, Ganado police responded to the intersection of York and Third in reference to a disabled 18-wheeler blocking the road. Upon arrival, police identified the truck driver as Quintauis Marnez Jones, 36, of Katy. Jones was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for felony Assault out of Harris County. Jones was arrested on his outstanding warrant and booked into the Jackson County jail.
On March 5, Ganado police responded to an address in the 900 block of N. Third St., in reference to a suspicious person. Police were able to locate the subject, and identified him as Manuel Balderas-Almeda, 21, of Ganado. Almeda was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for Bail Jumping / Failure to Appear out of Jackson County. Almeda was arrested on his outstanding warrant and booked into the Jackson County Jail.
On March 13, Ganado Police responded to the TA Truck Stop in reference to a customer pulling a knife on one of the store clerks. Upon arrival, it was discovered the suspect had already left the scene. The suspect has since been positively identified, and a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon has been issued for their arrest.
