The Friends of Elder Citizens Senior Center in Edna got a little facelift on April 11 after the Jackson County Commissioners voted to allow the county to help with a site cleanup. Sheriff Rick Boone brought a few trusty inmates from the Jackson County Jail to help with the cleanup.
FOEC Vice President Donna Coleman said it has been a long time since something like this happened there.
“This will enhance space that can be utilized for donations to help fund our thrift store at the center.” She said. “It’s been years since a site cleanup has been performed at the Senior Center to discard things that were not being used.”
In addition to the garbage removal and organization offered by Sheriff Boone and his crew, The Jackson County Master Gardeners also donated plants to help transform the outside of the building, which also received a new coat of paint.
“Terry Grewe, JCMG member, assisted with planting and choosing plants that would add to the street view of the center,” said Coleman.
The FOEC Board would like to thank the Jackson County Commissioner’s Court, Sheriff Rick Boone, Precinct 1 Commissioner Doug Frenzel, and FOEC Staff for their kind efforts in making this cleanup a huge success,” said Coleman. “The Senior Center would also like to thank Johana MV and Carlos for doing a great job in painting the exterior of the Senior Center.”
