Commissioners agree to Edna school resource officer

On Jan. 22, the Jackson County Commissioners approved a proposal to bring a School Resource Officer to the Edna school campuses. With this agreement, the school will pay 90 percent of the officer’s salary and the county will pay 10 percent with the county having the officer available to work for them on occasions when school is out, like during the summer and over spring break.
The agreement came after the county proposed the school pay 100 percent for the officer but the school’s counter-proposal of 90/10 split was accepted.
The SRO will work with Edna ISD on all days associated to the school calendar.
