Would you spell milquetoast with a ‘k’? Or add an extra ‘r’ in irascible? Would you know how to spell antediluvian if it was used in a sentence?
These are some of the stresses connected with students preparing for a spelling bee, and Jackson County campus winners will compete for the top spot on Monday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Edna High School Auditorium. Second through fifth graders will participate in the junior county bee and sixth through eighth grade will spell for the title of senior spelling bee champion.
Jackson County winners will advance to the 29th Annual Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 24 from 1-5 p.m. in the Region III Education Service Center in rooms 120 and 121.
This year’s pronouncer is Madalyn Maresh and the judges are Carrie Baker BJ DeBord of Ganado, and Jo Sue LeBouf of Industrial.
Jr. and senior winners will be awarded four Schlitterbahn season tickets and runners-up will receive Chamber bucks.
