Deer meat donated

Lavaca-Navidad River Authority donated 416 pounds of deer meat to Helping Hands of Jackson County on February 1.
“The meat was harvested on the LNRA property,” LNRA employees James Terry and Chris Janak said. “We have three ways of controlling the deer population. Three years ago we decided we needed to do a Wounded Warriors hunt. We bring in five wounded warriors. They come in, we let them shoot deer and hogs, and we wine and dine them.
