An Edna teen is dead following what police believe to be a murder on Tuesday, December 5.
A press release from the Edna Police Department stated that officers were dispatched to Cottonwood Apartments at 6:57 p.m. on Tuesday for an unresponsive juvenile.
According to the release, law enforcement believed the teen to be deceased upon arrival, and Emergency Medical Services attempted medical treatment to no avail.
“Durning the investigation it was determined that the juvenile was deceased,” the release stated. “The time of death was confirmed by the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1.”
The Texas Rangers have been contacted to assist in what police believe is a Capital Murder Investigation and urge anyone who has information regarding the crime to call the Edna Police Department at 361-782-6522.
“The Edna Police Department would like to send prayers to close friends and family during this difficult time,” the release concluded.
The Jackson County Herald-Tribune has chosen not to print the name of the juvenile victim. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
