EISD holds public meeting on school safety methods

     The Edna ISD Board of Trustees held a public hearing on July 31. The forum discussed two separate methods of school safety.

    Sheriff Andy Louderback has been involved with organizing active shooter training for all Jackson County law enforcement agencies and in the adjoining counties.

    He told the board that the state of Texas is currently considering substantial changes in school security in Texas.

    Louderback said currently in rural Texas, contractual part time “extra job” sign up for school security is prevalent and offers often underfunded school districts a cheaper alternative for at least one officer per school district.
