Ganado will hold its Christmas on the Square on December 21 from 12-9 p.m. The event this year will include many new attractions and will be followed by a Christmas movie on the lawn at the square.
“All of the rides will have a fee,” Kristi Rogers, Ganado city secretary, said. “But there is also a $10 unlimited, all day wristband. There will be a Farmers Holiday Market and we have over 30 venders that are signed up to come. We will also have three food trucks, Georgia Mae’s Good Eats, Say Grace Gourmet Chicken and Waffles, and a new one that has never been to Ganado, Sweet Dreamz. She does cookies, cakes, candies, and she will have a lot of holiday candy and possibly will be serving some soups.”
Headlining the rides is the new Derby/Bobsled attraction.
“It is an inflatable with 13 blowers on it, is nearly four stories tall, and has a 175 ft long race track,” Rogers said. “The only place something that big will fit is on the road, so we will close East Putnam St. The Derby is a one of a kind and the event coordinator said it is the largest one in the world.
“We were going to also have a swing, but the vehicle carrying it was involved in an accident in San Antonio, so in place of that we will have the Disco Dome which is a large inflatable, primarily geared toward young teens to adults and the Barrel of Fun, which is like a carnival ride and will hold about 6 people at a time.”
