A lawsuit between a former physician and the Jackson County Hospital District was dismissed on Sept. 18 after Judge Stephen Williams granted a traditional and no evidence motion for summary judgement filed by the hospital district.     Bill Jones, JCHD administrator and CEO, updated the district’s board of directors at the Sept. 27 meeting.

Dr. Savithri Fernando filed the lawsuit against the hospital district on July 17, 2017, alleging she suffered various discriminatory and retaliatory practices while employed by the hospital.

Judge William’s ruling dismisses all claims, after considering the motion, the plaintiff’s response, further briefings on file, and the pleadings and discovery on file with the court, along with any evidence that had been presented.
