Morning train and tractor collision leaves man with minor injuries

At 8:55 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, a train struck a tractor at the railroad crossing on CR 319, just off Hwy 59.
“A KC Southern train was travelling south,” DPS Spokesman Sgt. Ruben San Miguel said. “The tractor was pulling a disk. The driver attempted crossing the tracks but the train struck the rear wheel of the tractor, disconnecting the disk.”
There are no railroad crossing arms at that crossover.
San Miguel said the driver, a 20 year old male, was taken to the Jackson County Hospital with minor injuries. San Miguel did not have the name of the tractor driver at this time.
