UPDATE: Investigation determines EJH threat not credible
After an investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and local law enforcement, it has been determined that the note found in the restroom did not pose a credible threat to the school or students.
"We will contiinue to maintain law enforcement presence as a precaution," said Madalyn Maresh, EISD assistant superintendent.
Extra security is in place at the Edna Junior High after an anonymous note was discovered by a student in the restroom. Madalyn Maresh, EISD assistant superintendent, said the Jackson County Sheriff’s office is investigating the note to determine its credibility.
Parents received a text message at 8:56 a.m. this morning informing them of the increased security presence at the campus.
“The safety of our students and staff is our primary concern. Edna ISD works closely with local law enforcement to ensure all threats are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly,” the text said.
Maresh said the best thing they can do is to keep everyone informed and try to maintain normalcy until they know if there is a credible threat.
