District softball in full swing for Jackson County
The Industrial Cobras and Edna Cowgirls softball team opened district play with a tense, extra-inning game that ended with an 8 to 6 Cobra victory.
With many schools being out for spring break, the stands filled with many older siblings and ex-players that created a playoff-like atmosphere. The rowdy crowd was treated to a back-and-forth game that saw the Cowgirls fail to defeat a Cobra team that has won every meeting dating back to 2013.
Megan Chovanec, Edna’s head coach, said she told the girls in the huddle not to expect a blow out (win), but the fans were going to get their money’s worth because it was going to be a close game between rivals, and she was right.
Industrial loaded the bases in the first and second inning, but were unable to score a run.
