Jackson County goes to the Capitol
On Tuesday, March 13, Jackson County residents gathered at the Chamber of Commerce at 7 a.m. and piled into multiple vehicles and headed to Austin for Jackson County Day at the Capital.
Almost 30 people from Jackson County visited, ate at the Capitol Grill, and were recognized in the Senate and House galleries. The group included representatives from the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority, Edna Rotary Club, The Eleanor Brackenridge Literary Club, The Jackson County Herald-Tribune, and more.
Senator Lois Kolkhorst read some facts about Jackson County’s rich history and reliance on agriculture from the Senate floor and had the Jackson County group stand to be recognized.
