Wilma Jean Powers
Wilma Jean Frenzel Powers, of Edna, Texas passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at the age of 76. She was born on Oct. 30, 1940, in EL Toro, to the late Joseph August Frenzel and Bertha Lee Searcy Frenzel. Jean was a beautician in Edna for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and very dear friend who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Carl Edward “Corky” Powers; daughter, Shannon Christy; sons, Ricky and Mary Jane Powers, Scotty and Daphne Powers; sisters, Velma Moss and Earlene “Tootie” Dawes; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Sturm, Clara Coalson, and Vera Lee Keith; brothers, Joe Edward Frenzel, Clyde Frenzel, Jesse Frenzel, and George Frenzel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend George Tompkins and Reverend Jack Hudson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna. Pallbearers will be Jock Powers, Blake Sbrusch, Zachary Powers, Kyle Powers, Clint Sbrusch, and Donnie Dawes. Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna 361-782-2221.
