Joseph Pausewang
Joseph Leo Pausewang, 74, of Edna, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 in San Antonio after a lengthy illness. Joe was born in Sugar Land, Texas to Pius Leo Pausewang and Gertrude Louise Engebrock Pausewang on Sept. 23, 1942. He married Clela on June 12, 1985 in Wharton County. He worked as a truck driver for Bealine Service Company for many years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy from 1961 to 1965. He loved fishing and hunting, carpentry work, guns, telling a good story, and time spent with his family and friends. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Clela Pausewang, his son Jerry Beck of Edna, his daughter Denise Wilks and husband Ken Ramsey of Grand Prarie, his daughter Jennifer Craig and husband Todd of Henderson, his sister Helen Pausewang, his brother John Paul Pausewang and wife Mary Lou Pausewang, his sister Louise Pausewang and husband Gary Miller, his grandchildren Cody Beck, Eric Ramsey, Jamie Beck, Ethan Craig, Mattie Craig, Jolene Beck and Jaylynn Beck, his nephews James Lummus and Jaried McGlothern, and his nieces Amy McLeod and Misty McGlothern. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Pius Pausewang and Gertrude Pausewang. Pallbearers were Eric Ramsey, Todd Craig, James Lummus, Ethan Craig, Jarid McClothern and Ken Ramsey. Honorable pallbearers were Jack Beal, John Paul Pausewang, Jerry Beck and Rick Schultz, In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be sent to VA Fisher House, 7485 Wurzdach Road, San Antonio, TX 78229. Services were Sept. 16, at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel, with the Matagorda County Calvary officiating. Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 361-782-2152
