‘Boys tame ‘Dogs

The Cowboys were on a mission Friday night against opponent Sweeny Bulldogs, and succeeded with a 28-14 win.
“You have to believe and the results will come,” Head Coach Jerry Long said. “That’s what we’ve been telling the kids for the past few games, and we needed this win tonight.”
Edna came out strong, driving 60 yards, which ultimately led to Deion Callis scoring the first touchdown of the night with 6:37 left in the first quarter. The Cowboys defense was able to hold off the Bulldogs from putting points on the board in the first quarter, which put Edna in the lead 7-0.
Early in the second quarter Sweeny scored, tying the score at seven all with 10:42 seconds left. Within four minutes though, Kenny Haynes responded with his first touchdown of the night, and put the Cowboys back in the lead 14-7.
However, an interception by the Bulldogs at the 20-yard line tied the game up again at 14 all going into halftime.
Both teams came out ready to fight after the half, but with 5:31 left in the third quarter, Cowboy quarterback Thomas Long ran around the outside to score, putting Edna back in the
