Playoff Scenarios
Yoakum will play at Industrial on Friday and finish the season at home against Rice. With one win, Yoakum will win the district crown. The Bulldogs have already clinched a playoff spot.
Hallettsville is off this Friday and will finish the season at Edna. Hallettsville has clinched a playoff spot and can finish first, second, or third in district depending on the outcome of the game against the Cowboys. The Brahmas have an outside chance to win the district crown if they defeat Edna and if Yoakum loses both of their remaining games.
Edna will play Rice in Altair on Friday and finish the season at home against Hallettsville. The Cowboys have clinched a playoff spot, but can still finish anywhere from winning the district crown, to fourth in district. To win district, the Cowboys must win both their final two games and Yoakum must lose their final two games. With a win over Rice, the Cowboys can finish no worse than third. With a win in both of their final two games, and if Yoakum wins either of their final two games, the Cowboys will finish second.
Rice and Van Vleck are fighting for the final playoff spot. The Leopards did defeat Rice, so they have the advantage. VV faces Palacios on Friday and is off to finish the season. If Rice loses either of their final two game, VV will take the fourth playoff spot. If Rice wins both of their final games they will grab the final playoff spot and could finish anywhere from second to fourth in district.
Industrial and Palacios have both been eliminated from playoff contention. The Cobras will host Yoakum on Friday and finish off the season at Palacios.
Palacios will travel to Van Vleck on Friday and host Industrial to finish the season.
Standout players
As of right now, Cowboy Kenny Haynes is second in 3A-D1 in rushing yards with 1,346 yards. Charles Stallings from Kermit has the lead with 1,715. Haynes is also tied for second in scoring with 114 points. Stallings also leads this category with 150. And Haynes is tied for second in touchdowns with 19, behind the 25 of Stallings.
Cowboy Austin Black sits at 13th in 3A-D1 with 84 tackles.
Cowboy Koby Giles is tied for 8th in 3A-D1 in sacks with 6.
