Indians finish season against Yorktown
By Gabriella Alvarez
The Ganado Indians clashed helmets with the Yorktown Wildcats last Friday night in Ganado. The Indians were gallant in their fight, but the Wildcats took the win. Here is how the battle went down:
The first quarter was a back and forth motion for both teams with the Wildcats scoring three times and taking a 20-0 lead at the end of the quarter.
Fernando Rubio started with an excellent kick off sending the Wildcats to their own 42 yard line. The Indians fought as they held the Wildcats off, although this was no match for the Wildcats, who shortly scored a touchdown, which gave the Wildcats a 7-0 lead with 10:40 remaining in the first.
Ganado then received the ball and is placed at their own 38 yard line. Sophomore Ethan Guerra took the Indians all the way to the Wildcat’s 46 yard line with an amazing catch. However, the Wildcat defense was not giving in. Ganado punted the ball back to the Wildcats sending them to their own 44 yard line. The Wildcats made a failed attempt at a pass and resulted in an Indians takeover with six minutes left in the first quarter.
