Cowboys in top spot

Fans erupted after the last-minute win guaranteeing the Cowboys a solo district crown with a 51-48 score, and everyone watched and took video as each member snipped at the basketball net to cut it down. Each member kept a piece of the net, and Head Coach Chad Hartley slung the remainder over Kenny Haynes’ neck while he was giving interviews.
The reason? The Cowboys and Palacios Sharks were tied at 48 all with two second left on the clock to end the game. It seemed inevitable the game would go into overtime, but Thomas Long pitched the basketball to Haynes and he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Moments in sports don’t get better than that.
But the game didn’t start well, the Sharks led the Cowboys 19-6 after the first quarter, and it was clear Hartley wasn’t happy. During the minute between the first two quarters, Hartley took a moment to look each team member in the eyes.
“What did I tell you? One hundred percent!” he said, before lowering his voice and regrouping the team mentality.
Something he said sparked the team, and Kenny Haynes hit a three-pointer within a minute of the second quarter starting.
