Masked gunmen robs convenience store
The 7-11 convenience store on Hwy. 111 S. was robbed just before midnight on March 27. According to Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge, a lone masked man wearing gloves and carrying a handgun walked into the store demanding money from the clerk. Wooldridge said the clerk complied and the man left the store. He said there were no other individuals in the store at the time. The suspect is still at large. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier that morning, around 7 a.m., a male wearing a mask entered the America’s Best Value Inn on the Hwy. 59 feeder road. He was carrying a gun and demanded money from the desk clerk, who said there was no money in the register. The man left the hotel. No arrests have been made and the Edna police are also investigating this incident.
