One year after losing in the state semi-finals round of the girls 3A double tennis tournament, Industrial Cobras Reagan Doyle and Kylann Griffith weren’t going to let anything stop them. With a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Josie Wells and Hannah DeFriend of Groesbeck on Friday, the Industrial girls won the state championship.
Between heat approaching triple digits, very stout semi-final opponents, and a black eye, the doubles duo fought through adversity and came out as the best in the state.
Doyle, who has played numerous sports throughout her high school career, is accustomed to deep playoff runs. She was a part of the Cobras volleyball team that made it to the regional finals, the basketball team that made it to the state semi-finals, and the softball team that made it to the regional quarterfinal round. It was her final sport in high school where she finally got her state title.
“Finishing my senior year as a state champ is a really cool accomplishment,” Doyle said.
