When Ted Malek began looking for a place to play the All-Star softball game this year, he started with Victoria. When no fields were available he decided on Inez. For most of the Jackson County girls, the Inez field was a fitting place to play their final softball game as high schoolers because it was the first field where they combined forces years ago.
“It’s bittersweet because I’m going off to college, but I’m also leaving my best buddies that I played with forever,” 2018 Industrial graduate Jillian Jones said. “And it’s great to be back on this field. We grew up playing on this field and we are going to leave playing on this field.”
Jones was a part of the Blue-All Star team and was joined one last time by fellow Cobras Tia Hart, Lexey Mikulec, Sarah Kusak, and Reagan Doyle as well as Ganado Maiden Alexis Mojica. Cowgirl Kaitlyn Morton was invited to the game but unable to attend. Rounding out the blue team was a player from Victoria West and players from Hallettsville and Calhoun.
