Clara Sowell

Clara “Dell” Sowell, of Edna, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 98. She was born in Ranger, Texas on Sept. 21, 1919, to the late Boon Wittington and Lillie Gates Whittington.     Dell was not only a wonderful mother but a grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend who will be truly missed.     Dell is survived by her loving children, Brenda (Ted) Theilen, and Beth Grimes, Larry (Barbara) Sowell and Jerry (Clara) Sowell; sister, Eyvonne (Edwin) Goad; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four  great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.     In addition to her parents Dell is proceeded in death by her husband, Olan Sowell; sister, Merle Whittington; brothers, Bobby and John Whittington; great-granddaughter, Molly McCormick; son-in-law, Frank Tresner.     Funeral service was held on June 27, at 1 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna with the Rev. Robert Krause officiating.     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E.
