Lorenzo Garza
Lorenzo Mireles Garza, 80, of Angleton passed away on August 10, 2018 in Galveston, Texas with his loving family by his side. He was born in Inez, to Emilio & Juanita Mireles Garza on August 27, 1937 and raised in Edna. Mr. Garza, affectionately known as “Mr. G", was the founder and owner of local businesses, G&G Mini Mart and G&G Express. Before calling Angleton his home, he was a longtime resident of Freeport, Texas, where he started in the grocery store business as a meat cutter. His entrepreneurial drive inspired his purchase of an empty lot of land on N. Downing Rd. in Angleton, where he and his wife, Lucy Garza, established G&G Mini Mart in 1987. Mr. Garza owned and successfully operated G&G Mini Mart for 12 years before retiring. With his jovial and warm personality, his customers became his friends, and he enjoyed reminiscing and shooting the breeze when he ran into them in his later years around town. Retirement didn’t agree with Mr. Garza, and he branched out into the automotive and state inspection business to co-found G&G Express with his former son-in-law and longtime friend, Roel Rolando Macias, Sr. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding around town, having afternoon coffee at G&G Mini Mart, and attending church every week. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Maria Tijerina, Lenore Salinas, and Andrea Flores, brothers Jose Garza, Frank Garza. Mr. Garza is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucy Garza, daughter Lisa Marie Garza, grandchildren Sara Inez Macias and Roel Rolando Macias, Jr., and sister Jacinta Santellana.
