A group of library patrons and community supporters gathered together at the Jackson County Memorial Library (JCML) on October 25 for their second meeting.
The patrons have volunteered their time to work towards organizing the Friends of the Library group, which will be a non-profit service organization to enhance public usage of the JCML facilities, services and resources.
“The Friends of the Library is a group of people who get together and want to help the library,” said JCML Director Cherie Robinson.
Ursula Price, president of the Port O’Connor Friends of the Library, was the guest speaker. She spoke about the process of obtaining the 501(c)(3), drafting bylaws, writing a mission statement, and appointing board of directors, and brainstormed fundraising ideas that could help support JCML projects.
