Indians lose but can still make playoffs with win

Ganado (4-5, 2-3) and Tidehaven football (3-6, 3-2) both went into last Friday night with a 2-2 district record looking to cement a win getting them closer to the playoffs. Tidehaven reigned victorious with a 34-7 final score, but because Schulenburg is 2-3 in district and experienced a bye week last Friday, Ganado will travel there next week with an even record and have one final chance to get in the playoffs.
Indian Head Coach Brent Bennett said he doesn’t think about the numbers and possibilities of playoffs, though he does give them the lowdown on what could happen. “We spoke about it for a few seconds and continued on. The goal was to win tonight and we didn’t do that. We don’t look ahead and we don’t look behind, we take it in the moment and work on what we need to get better.”
Ganado quarterback senior Logan Hurt began the game throwing clean passes, leading to their only touchdown run with 3:30 left in the first half by Ethan Guerra after a few tries. By that point Tidehaven had scored 14 points before Ganado’s seven points—once in the first quarter with 52 seconds left, and once in the second with 6:21 left in the half.
