Jessie Mae Moody
Jessie Mae Hensley Moody, 97, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. She was born in Edna on June 4, 1921, to the late Medley Ward Hensley and Minnie Bell Dew Hensley. She was the youngest of three children and grew up in Edna, where she met her husband of 74 years, Hubert E. Moody. After his Navy Seabees service during World War II, Moody worked for 42 years for what is known today as Exxon-Mobil. Jessie Mae retired as a school secretary from Robstown, TX ISD, and in 1980 they moved back to Edna after their retirement. Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert E. Moody; her parents; her sister, Mary Ellen Hobson; and her brother, Medley Tips Hensley; and son-in-law, Danny Sijansky. She is survived by her children, Martha Sue Davis (Paul) of Edna, Janice Louise Sijansky of Katy, and Charles Eugene Moody (Vicki) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Kevin Sijansky, Sarah Sijansky, Ryan Moody, and Kyle Moody; great-grandchildren, Gavin Sijansky, Leighton, Ella Kate, and Caroline Sijansky and Samuel Moody. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Edna Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Eleanor Brackenridge Literary Club. Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 4-6 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service began at 2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 7, in the Edna Presbyterian Church; burial followed in the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna, with Reverend Michel Yonts officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Hobson, Bill Middleton, John Moody, Kyle Moody, Ryan Moody, Jon Poole, Cade Porter, and Kevin Sijansky. Honorary pallbearers were great grandsons, Gavin Sijansky and Leighton Sijansky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edna Presbyterian Church, 502 Apollo Drive, Edna Texas, 77957.
