Timoteo "Tim" Garcia Sr.
Timoteo “Tim” Garcia, Sr., of Vanderbilt, passed away on December 4, 2018, at the age of 90. He was born in El Toro, on August 22, 1928 to the late Gueillermo Garcia and Adelina Ballin Garcia. Tim served in the U.S. Army/National Guard/Army reserve for 14 years, was a lifelong member in the VFW and worked at Alcoa for 33 years, along with working for the Vanderbilt EMS for 26 years, Vanderbilt Fire Department for 30 years, being an Industrial ISD school board member for 27 years, Lions Club man of the year “Samuelson award,” and Little League umpire for 34 years. Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend who will be missed dearly. Tim is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margarita Figirova Garcia; children, Emily (Jesse) Castillo, Ruben (Linda) Garcia, and Timoteo (Sylvia) Garcia Jr.; grand-children, Timothy Garcia, Michelle Smith, Thomas Garcia, Jessica Guerra, Christopher Garcia, Mike Garcia, Monica Flores, Octaviano Garcia, Joe Louis Garcia, Sandra Garcia Ortega, Rene Garcia; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Lucy Garibay; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Tim is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lydia Garcia; sister, Delores Palacios; brothers, Gilbert Garcia, Felix Garcia, and Raymond Garcia. Visitation was held on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9:30-11 a.m., with a memorial service at 11 a.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Johnson Owusu-Boateng and Pastor Jack Hutson officiated.
