Helping Hands has new director

“I have really big shoes to fill.”
Kay Koop is almost certain she is going to step into the role of Director at Helping Hands of Jackson County as Marcella Ramsbacher has had to leave the job due to health concerns. Koop knows that Ramsbacher did an excellent job for all the years she was director.
“It opened in 1985 and Marcella took over in ‘87, so she has been there for 31 years,” Koop said. “She knows the people. She knows the children. I recognize them, but I do not deal with them on a one-to-one basis. It is something that I am going to have to learn. She has done a fantastic job here. We are tremendously going to miss her. She is a kind, loving person. I hate that she won’t be with us.”
Koop is filling in at the position right now because she wanted to see what all it would entail.
“I am doing it on an interim basis right now,” Koop continued. “I just didn’t want to commit until I knew for sure I wanted to take the position. I am 99 percent sure I am going to take it.”
If Koop does decide to take the job, she will be new to the position but not new to Helping Hands.
