Voting times and location
By Kate Brooks, Jackson County Clerk With the 2020 General Election just around the corner on November 3, I wanted to inform the public of deadlines and dates, mail in ballot procedures, voting times and locations, safety protocol for voters and hopefully answer any questions voters might have about the upcoming election.
This is the last of three articles in which I will provide information that is pertinent to the upcoming election.
October 5 is the last day to register to vote. Our local Registrar is Monica Hyek Foster, Jackson County tax assessor-collector. You can contact her office at 361-782-3473 for information or visit the office in Room 102 in the courthouse to complete the voter registration process.
We have received many calls from those who have already applied for a ballot by mail and are concerned about not receiving their ballot yet.
As of September 18th, we do not have the printed ballots in hand. There have been several mandatory revisions to the ballot and had to be approved prior to printing. Please don’t worry, your ballots will be mailed as soon as we receive them. The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is October 23rd.
All early voting will be in the Jackson County Courthouse Lobby on the following dates and times:
• Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 13, 14, 15 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 16 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Monday thru Thursday, Oct. 19, 20, 21, 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, Oct. 26, 27, 28, 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 30 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

• Precinct 1: Jackson County Services Building
