It is a busy weekend for Jackson County athletes.
Friday
Volleyball
The Industrial Cobras volleyball team will be facing Blanco in the Area playoff round at 6:15 at Seguin ISD. The Cobras will be Visitors.
Blanco (30-6, 10-0) won their district and defeated Cole 25- 6, 25-14, and 25-18 in the Bi-District round. Industrial (21-17, second in district) defeated Natalia 25-22, 26-28, 25-9, 25-12 in the Bi-District round.
Football
Industrial will be hosting Goliad at 7:30.
The Ganado Indians will be playing at Flatonia at 7:30. We hope to be able to update playoff details after both of these games end.
The Edna Cowboys have an off week this week. They will be facing Bishop on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Edna at 1 p.m.
Saturday
Cross Country-Saturday is the State Cross Country Meet at Round Rock.
Ganado Indian Alan Baez will be running for 2A tomorrow.
Football-It will be a very busy day for Jackson County youth football.
Edna will be playing in the Superbowl in the Golden Crescent League. Edna (8-1) will be facing Calhoun (9-0). Edna’s only loss was to Calhoun in week one, 19-0. They will meet up at 6 p.m. at Apache Stadium in Gonzales.
The Coastal Bend Youth Football League features teams from Ganado and Industrial playing in their Superbowls. All three CBYFL games will be played at Ganado Stadium.
Starting off the day, the Ganado PeeWee team (4-2) will face El Campo (3-3) at 5 p.m.
Second, the Ganado Junior team (11-0) will face El Campo (9-2) at 6 p.m. The Ganado Junior team is looking to finish off their perfect season in which they have outscored opponents 251-68. Also, Ganado has won the Junior Superbowl six consecutive years.
The Bantam game features Ganado (9-2) facing Industrial (4-7). The game will be played at 7:15.
Basketball
The Edna Cowgirls will kick off their basketball season on Saturday at Sweeny. JV will play at 11 and varsity at 12:15.
The Maidens will host Yorktown to begin their season on Saturday. JV will play at 4 and varsity at 5:15.
