Robert (Bob) Korczynski
Robert (Bob) Korczynski, of Victoria, was born in Ganado to Victor and Elsie Korczynski on March 10 1945. He departed this life into eternal rest at age 78, on July 5, 2023.
He attended schools in Ganado and graduated in 1963. After graduation he went to Barber School in Houston and joined his brother, Dan, and together they cut hair in the Sharpstown area. Realizing that Houston was not where he wanted to raise a family, he moved to Victoria., Texas, and went to work for DuPont where he worked until he was able to take an early retirement.
After his retirement, cutting hair must have still been in his blood because he was still barbering part-time in Victoria when he passed away. If you wanted a really good haircut, or just a really good story or a corny joke, you could always count on Bob to deliver.
Bob was an avid fisherman, a skilled gardener, and a very good bowler. One week before his death, he bowled in a no tap tournament in Las Vegas and bowled a very impressive 298.
He took great pride in everything he did. He could catch more fish than anyone else and could grow vegetables bigger than anyone else. And those weren’t just tall tales he told his customers!
He was affectionately known to his children, grandchildren, and all their families as Bob-Bob. He loved his family more than life itself and his passing will leave a hole in so many places in their lives.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan Korczynski, infant sister Jospehine Korczynski, and daughter Susan Kirkpatrick.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Diana Korczynski, his daughter Kim Meyer (Jeff), Jennifer Gill (Reggie), Shannon Korczynski (David), Ashley Edwards (Torrie); his sons Corey Stuck (Angela), and son-in-law Don Kirkpatrick along with 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by by his brother Dick (Sarah), sisters Patsy Rasmussen (Kenneth), Joyce Roach (Jimmy), and sister-in-law Patty Korczynski.
Visitation was held at Faith Family Church at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, followed bya memorial service at 10 a.m. A private burial was held in Ganado at Assumption Catholic Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, where his ashes were laid to rest. Graveside services were conducted by his son, Corey Stuck.
A special thank you is extended to everyone who reached out to the family with food or cards, or just to share thoughts and prayers in this time of sorrow.
