Frenzel, Thompson Win Local Races

Bauknight, Lauderback Head to HD 30 Runoff

     Jackson County closed voting last week and several local races were decided. Doug Frenzel won the race for County Commissioner Precince 1 over Clinton Shefcik.

     Steve Thompson won the race for County Constable Precinct 2 over Dwayne Taylor. 

     Ted Cruz and Michael Cloud won, receiving over 88% and 75% respectively state wide.

     The race for State Representative District 30 however, has not been decided. Jeff Bauknight narrowly edged A.J. Louderback by 431 votes. Bauknight received 42.06% compared to 40.27% for Louderback. Since neither candidate brought in the required 50% plus one vote, a run-off election will be held.

     The schedule for the run-off election is as follows:

     Monday, April 29 – The last day to register to vote in the runoff election;

     Friday, May 17 – The last day to apply for a mail ballot;

     Monday, May 20 – The first day of early voting;

     Friday, May 24 – The last day of early voting;

     Tuesday, May 28 – The last day to receive a mail ballot
