Betty Jane DeBord Goldman
Betty Jane DeBord Goldman, of Edna, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the age of 87, Betty was born to the late Rube DeBord and Cecil Quarles in Edna, Texas.
Betty owned and operated the Triangle Treet, in Edna for 47 years. She greeted everyone with a smile and never let anyone go hungry. She was well known in Edna for her amazing cakes and cookies. There weren’t too many around who didn’t have a birthday or wedding cake made by her. She loved being outdoors tending her garden or working with her cows. Age never stopped her. Even in her 80s she would be out riding the pasture on her Gator checking on the cattle.
Betty was the most genuine, kindest soul you would ever meet. No one knew that better than her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her whole world. She could always be found sitting on the floor playing marbles, pushing around trucks, or having a tea party with one of them. They were the light of her life. There was no one in the world like, Nanny. She was a member of Cordele Methodist Church until its closing and a member of Baptist Temple in Edna. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend who will be missed by all.
Betty is survived by her sons, Randy Goldman and wife Anita, Michael Goldman and wife Lynette, Vernon Goldman and wife Brenda; granddaughters, Chelsey and husband Jesse and Ashlynn; and grandsons, Corey, Matthew, Mason, Morgan, and Max. She is also survived by her 7 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Mackenzie, Brielle, Whitley, Kerry, Canaan, and Camille.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Rube and Cecil DeBord; her loving husband, Vernon Gail Goldman; her brother, Rube DeBord, Jr; and her sister Eunice Koenig.
Pallbearers will be Corey Goldman, Matthew Goldman, Mason Goldman, Morgan Goldman, Jesse Dickerson, and Freddy Tarver. Junior Pallbearer will be Max Goldman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Samantha Goldman, Mackenzie Goldman, Canaan Goldman, Brielle Dickerson, Camille Dickerson, Whitley Goldman, and Kerry Goldman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow in Goldman Family Cemetery in Edna, Texas. Reception to be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church CCD Building following graveside service. Pastor David Murff will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty’s name to Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion, 1005 Mallette Drive, Victoria, Texas 77904.
