Edwin John Strelec
Edwin John Strelec, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born in El Campo, Texas on July 11, 1941, to the late Albert Strelec and Hermina Pargac Strelec. Ed married Geraldine Swinky Strelec on September 23, 1961. Together they made a home in Edna, raising two children. Ed spent most of his life welding. He worked for Mercer Construction Company as well as doing jobs for customers in the area.
Edwin was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, listening to polka music and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Edwin is survived by his son, Sonny Strelec and wife Brenda of Edna; his daughter, Lisa Wendel and husband Gerald of El Maton, grandchildren, Jeffrey Wendel and wife Marissa, Kyle Wendel and wife Kristie, Jack Strelec and wife Kayla and MaKenna Thedford and husband Trenton; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 62 years Geraldine, brothers Willie Strelec, Albert Strelec and sister Dorothy Bodungen.
Pallbearers are Jeffrey Wendel, Kyle Wendel, Jack Strelec, Trenton Thedford, Gary Bodungen, and Robert Shafer.
Honorary Pallbearers are great-grandchildren, Mason Wendel, Marleigh Wendel, Maddox Wendel, Payton Thedford, Parker Thedford, Sutton Strelec, Emerson Strelec, and Ella Wendel.
Services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna, Texas. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. With Rosary recited at 10 a.m. and Funeral Mass to began at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado, Texas. Father Michael Petering will officiate.
