Joyce Elizabeth Jacobs
Joyce Elizabeth Walker Jacobs went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born in Houston, Texas on September 7, 1938, to Marvin Lee and Sarah Alwilda (Sally) Walker. She grew up in Ganado, Texas and graduated from Ganado High School in 1956. She has a brother Ronald (Pakalia) Walker, Wilda Guess (deceased) and Marjorie Ann Walker (deceased).
She married J.C. (Bubba) Jacobs in Ganado on October 17, 1957, and was employed by Dr. J.L. Holloway until he retired.
Joyce’s favorite pastime was dancing. She also loved playing dominoes and bunco. She especially loved playing 42 with her son, Timmy, and enjoyed it even more when she was able to beat him. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by her brother, Ron Walker (Pakalia) of San Antonio, son Timmy (Brenda) Jacobs, 3 grandchildren, Cory (Mandy) Jacobs, John Ross Jacobs, and Jessica (Corey) Barnes, great grandchildren Blaire Barnes, Carter Barnes, Paislee Davis, Sutton Cole Jacobs, and Slade Anson Jacobs, all from Edna. Step grandsons Shannon (Julie) Srp of Corpus Christi, Jake (Shelley) Srp of Edna, Josh (Laurel) Srp of Round Rock. Step great grandchildren Makenzie Andel of Dallas, Mallory Andel of College Station, Kyla, Erin and Sarah Srp, Corpus Christi, Parker, Annie, and Jake MacHenry Srp of Edna and Adi, Eli and Noah Srp of Round Rock and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father and mother, Marvin, and Sarah Walker; husband, J.C. (Bubba) Jacobs; sister, Wilda Lee Guess of Lake Jackson; infant sister, Marjorie Ann Walker; brother, Baby Boy Walker (stillborn); brother-in-law’s, Ewald Koop, and Purcell (Percy) Guess; sister-in-law, Dorothy Koop; niece, Stephanie Lambert; nephews, Larry & Ryan Koop; and Granger Anson Koop.
Pallbearers are Mark Guess, Kevin Guess, Mike Smith, Clayton Koop, Dustin Smith, and Larry Macon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Koop, Chad Kinsfather, Traie Russell, and Joyce’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Vanderbilt Baptist Church in Vanderbilt, Texas. Interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna. Pastor Jack Hutson will be officiating.
