Joan Griffin Stallings
Joan Griffin Stallings, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 94. Joan was born May 30, 1930, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Doris Green Griffin and Earl Kenneth Griffin. She married Aubrey W. Stalling on May 30, 1953, in Edna.
Joan is preceded in death by husband Aubrey Stallings on December 6, 1992; both parents; sisters, Iris Burnett and Ruth Joe Griffin; and brother, W. Rex Griffin. She is survived by nephews, Edward Burnett of Wyoming, Kurt Griffin, Clay Griffin, and Joey Griffin; nieces, Janet Seager and Holly Fischer of California, Grace Kelley of Nevada, Pam Berry of Queensland, Australia, and Karen O’Donnell of North Carolina. Also, by members of the Stallings Family and all friends and former students.
Joan graduated from Reagan High School in Houston and graduated from Texas State College for Women (now TWU) in Denton, Texas. Joan retired from Edna ISD after 32 years as a teacher, Coach, and Librarian after serving every school campus in the district.
She served her community as a member of the Edna City Zoning and Planning Commission, Memory Gardens Cemetery Board, and the Jackson County Library Board. Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Life Member of TSTA, Texas Retired Teachers, Texas Library Assn., DAR, and other organizations.
Private Family Burial will be held at a later date.
