Cecilia Kaspar French
Cecilia Kaspar French, age 87, of Ganado, Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, one day before her 88th birthday. Cecilia was born on August 22, 1936 in Ganado, Texas to the late Fred and Cecilia Rozner Kaspar.
She is survived by her daughters, Ceanne Webb (Mike) of Edna, Texas, and Susie Pape (Jon) of Ganado, Texas. Cecilia is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica Prickett (Daniel) of Bakersfield, California, Ryan Pape (Jessica) of Ganado, Texas, Justin McMillian (Ginger) of Montgomery, Texas, Ashley Martin (Bryan) of Victoria, Texas and Collin Hons of Ganado, Texas. Her ten great-grandchildren are Kaden and Katelyn McMillian, Peyton, Reagan and Paisley Prickett, Kayleigh, Blake and Lexie Pape and Grayson and Rowan Martin.
Cecilia is also survived by her sisters Rosalie Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas and Florence Herb of Houston, Texas and sisters-in-law Connie Kaspar and Debbie Jones, both of Victoria, Texas, as well as her extended family of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bob French, her sister Josephine Hausler and brothers Frank Kaspar and Fred Kaspar, Jr.
Cecilia graduated from Ganado High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas. After graduation, she began her career at Mauritz Memorial Hospital in Ganado as a Registered Nurse. In 1960, she became the beloved School Nurse at Ganado, ISD, until her retirement in 1992, after 32 years of service to the students. She and Bob worked side by side at GISD, where they positively influenced the lives of all who passed through their offices. She had the heart of a true caretaker, with the uncanny ability to know exactly what was needed and when.
Cecilia truly loved life-she did not want to miss a moment of it. Her favorite moments were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were the crowning glory in her life, and she was a constant source of positive reinforcement for them. She was very proud of her family.
Her calendar was always full—whether the annual French family vacation, trips to Bakersfield, cruises, birthdays, anniversaries, meetings, or going to theater performances, she was always ready to go! She could also be found in Coushatta, Louisiana with one or both of her sisters. Although Cecilia was the oldest of the three, she was always the designated driver.
Cecilia loved her Faith Sharing Group, and her after-church Coffee Club, where they were known as the “Golden Girls”.
Cecilia was a lifelong member of the Assumption Catholic Church Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America Society 1381, KJZT Society 43, American Legion Auxiliary, Jackson County Retired School Personnel, and honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
