Darrell Daniel Staff, 70, of Port O’Connor, formerly of Ganado, TX passed away on January 23, 2025. He was born October 28,1954 in Ganado. He graduated from Ganado High School and Wharton County Junior College. After graduating from college, he started his own business, Staff’s Auto Repair.

Darrell married the love of his life, Jo Beth, on August 20, 1977. They were happily married for 47 years and blessed with three children and four grandchildren.

Darrell owned Staff’s Auto Repair in Ganado for 42 years and retired at the age of 62, then moved to Port O’Connor to enjoy retirement near the water.

Darrell enjoyed fishing and hunting, coaching softball for many years, restoring antique vehicles, making homemade wine, and creating flagstone crosses. He was a true gentleman of many talents, few words, and would do anything to help others.

Darrell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a devout Catholic. He loved his family and dog, Coco, who never left his side and recently passed. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in supporting them through every chapter in their lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Betty Joyce Staff and his brother, Gary Staff.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Jo Beth; brother Dale (Betty Jo) Staff, sister Carole (Joe) Stolle, sister-in-law Laurie Staff, daughters Jessica Neal (Ryan), Jennifer Cavender (Jarrett), and son Jason Staff, and grandchildren, RJ and Makayla Neal and Jazzlynn and Jace Cavender.

Darrell’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will always be remembered as a man with a strong faith in God who put family first, worked hard every day of his life, and always found joy in helping others. He was one of a kind and made a difference in many lives.

Rosary will be Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca or Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ganado or a charity of your choice in his honor.
