Butch attended George Washington Carver and held numerous jobs throughout his lifetime.

He retired from the City of Edna after 21 years of service.

Butch leaves to cherish his memory his loving companion of 25 years Shirley Barnes and sons Felton” Button” Hopes jr. and Morris Hopes of Edna also a step-grandson Nikia Jr. Dilworth of Edna who he raised as a son. Step-kids Tanya Henderson, DeMarcus Barnes and Jeremy Barnes. Eleven surviving Siblings Audrey Tones, Yvonne Pleasant, Dorothy Nelson, Doris Bryant, Ora Mae (Wessie) Sparks, Evelyn Callis, Hillery Edwards, Charles Edwards, Ervin Edwards, Earl Edward and Noble Edwards. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Irma Edwards and Step-Father Hillery Edwards, Son Vernon Williams, Daughter Latricia Ann Turner, Sister Ola Edwards, Brothers Jamie Edwards and Lawrence Edwards and Great Grandson Kyron Hopes.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hardaway, Correll Hopes, Nikia Dilworth, Sr., Marcus Edwards, Jarius Edwards, and Kendrick Sparks. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Tones, Jessie Wade, Billy Stafford, Tommy Barnes, and Norvel Montgomery.

Services for Felton “Butch” Morris Hopes, Sr. was held with a Visitation on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service began at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 19, 2025, also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel, followed by the Burial in the Mount Olive Cemetery of Edna.

Reverend Gary Roberts, Sr. officiated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna.
