Hermina Irene Novak July 4, 1931 — April 13, 2025
In 1951, Hermina married Willie Novak.
Together, they built a life rooted in faith and hard work, farming for over thirty years before retiring to Victoria, Texas. In 1952, they welcomed their daughter, Magdeline, and in 1963, they adopted their son, Lee.
Hermina was a cherished member of the Novak family and a lifelong resident of Jackson County.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Willie; daughter, Maggie; her parents, Henry and Angelina Sbrusch Novak; and sisters, Irene Heibel and Janet Novak.
She is survived by her son, Lee (Arlene) Novak; her siblings, Gladys (Donald) Orsak, Margie (Ronald) Bridges, Rita (Michael) Waymire, Silvester Novak, George (Jeanie) Novak, and Ervan Novak; grandchildren, Kevin Hajek, Matthew, Lauren (Zack) Carballo, and Maddie Welder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Hermina was a prayerful woman. Some would say they almost felt sorry for the Devil when she prayed—because he didn’t stand a chance! She was a devoted member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church for over four decades, where she also served in the Altar Society. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was known for her gentle spirit, her deep love of God, and her devotion to her family.
A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Assumption Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado.
Pallbearers include Kevin Hajek, Jonathan Heibel, David Novak, Matthew Novak, Zack Carballo, and Alan Victorin.
Services are under the care of Ganado Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Assumption Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
